What we do

Much of our work can fit into 3 broad categories.

Understanding people

Research Study

Using qualitative and quantitative methods to understand something about a group.

Goals:

  • Identify the questions that matter

  • Operationalize key variables

  • Distribute a survey to a representative sample of the target population

  • Identify trends, challenges, and opportunities

  • Build base of actionable data

Why it’s sociological

Knowledge is power. In a “big data” world, it’s easy for the human side of things to get lost. The more you understand a population, the better you can reach them where they are and affect their lives positively. But, producing high-quality data is much more difficult than people often realize. Finding the right questions to ask, figuring out how to ask them, asking them, and then knowing what the answers mean, are all sociological challenges. Our experts in qualitative and quantitative research methods can get you there.

Changing behavior

Program Development & Assessment

Crafting an initiative and tracking its effectiveness.

Goals:

  • Identify project objectives

  • Develop relevant IP/curricula

  • Monitor implementation

  • Measure key markers of success

  • Analyze data

Why it’s sociological

Changing behavior is hard, and it’s not enough just to have a great stated objective. In order to achieve meaningful change, objectives have to be reflected in the way a program is built, executed, and measured. We can help you plan your initiative, track the things that matter, and make necessary pivots. Then we can help you scale what works so you can extend your reach even further.

Hint: this is a great way to build a strong company culture, and we can help.

Getting buy-in

Advocacy Campaign

Targeted PR/marketing for a cause or social impact initiative.

Goals:

  • Understand target audience’s needs, contexts, priorities, and challenges

  • Identify obstacles

  • Craft a story that uses language the audience will understand while holding true to data

  • Increase buy-in (awareness, engagement, and action)

Why it’s sociological

Whether because of competing values or simply because of unseen constraints, people may not do things that are in their own interest. Important activities like reading to one’s child, preparing for a potential disaster, and taking advantage of beneficial resources might seem like “no-brainers”, but are hardly so straightforward in the complex and dynamic social landscape. We can help you understand your audience, identify and navigate potential obstacles, and drive action that matters. Your audience may be end users, policy-makers, donors, or the general public.

Example Projects

  • Methods: Literature review and social listening

Deliverables: Consulting hours and brief summary of findings/recommendations

    Est. Price: $1,500-3,000

    Est. Timeline: 2-4 weeks

  • Methods: Literature review, social listening, interviews/focus groups

Deliverables: Consulting hours, detailed summary of findings, and campaign blueprint with personas

    Est. Price: $5,000-25,000

    Est. Timeline: 1-3 months

  • Methods: Literature review, social listening, interviews/focus groups, observation, survey

Deliverables: Consulting hours, detailed summary of findings, campaign blueprint, and data visualizations.

    Est. Price: $10,000-100,000

    Est. Timeline: 2-8 months

In science, when human behavior enters the equation, things go nonlinear. That's why Physics is easy and Sociology is hard.
